REVIEW: Skip Hop Paxwell Easy Access Baby Changing Bag

While some women get very excited over a new handbag, I feel the same when I find a baby changing bag that really meets my needs! Four children and several changing bags later I have still not quite found the one that ‘does it all’. As a brand, Skip Hop produce some incredible products and I have never been disappointed by anything I have had from them, their products last so well and are extremely high quality; we have 7 year old backpacks which saw my two eldest children through nursery up until present day and although could do with a wash now, show barely any signs of wear and tear, so when we received Paxwell Changing Bag for review I was looking forward to what it had to offer.

Size is important, although until recently I was packing nappies for two children, one is now potty trained, but this also means that I need space for a change of clothes, just in case. The Paxwell bag has a large front zip pocket with a dual opening zip which opens up really wide so that you can access all of the bag, you can stack nappies, wipes, muslins, small toys and teethers along with clothes in the main compartment, a large pocket on the inside holds a changing mat (which is included) and there are two smaller elasticated pockets for other baby paraphernalia as well as a mesh zip pocket which sits on the front where the bag opens. There is an insulated bottle pocket either side of the bag which is generously sized so should fit most bottle brands or drinks bottles. A small front pocket gives you somewhere to put your phone or keys for quick access rather than losing them in the main compartment.

The bag isn’t just practical but it looks great too, it is made from a wipe-clean material in a subtle camouflage print and (before you fill it up) is really light, weighing in at just over 600 grams. Backpack straps mean that you can carry it yourself or attach it to the buggy. This is one of my favourite things about this bag, and something I haven’t come across before in any previous bags I have had – stroller straps! This is such a simple idea, but complete genius. Depending on your buggy, you may not have a very big storage basket underneath and the Paxwell is a big bag; there is a clip on each arm of the straps which undo so that you can clip the bag to the handlebar of your buggy.

This bag holds everything I need it to and I don’t need to fight to shut it, the pockets and details are well thought out and practicality has been put first. It is comfortable to wear with its padded mesh-lined straps and it serves its purpose perfectly. The Paxwell Easy-Access Backpack measures 35.5cm long x 16.5cm wide x 38cm high and can be purchased directly from Skip Hop, who ship worldwide.
