Count with Peppa is a Peppa Pig model which stands at around 24cm tall, she has two buttons on the front, a coin slot, an opening purse on her front and she comes with 10 play coins. Count with Peppa has been designed to help with counting skills, along with colour and picture recognition.
The 10 coins are double-sided, each is a different colour and they are numbered from 1 to 10 with an image of your favourite Peppa Pig characters on one side and on the other side you will find a number and images that correspond with that number e.g. number 7 shows a ‘7’ and Suzy Sheep on one side and on the other side is a ‘7’ and 7 flowers. This is great for helping children to count the objects separately and having the number shown next to them helps to reinforce the what the number looks like.
Peppa has two plays modes: Counting and Numbers or Colour and Objects. In Numbers mode you can insert a coin in to her purse and she will count up to the number on the coin and if you press the left button she will ask you to insert a certain number of coins. Press the button again to change the question, if you get the question correct Peppa will give you encouraging phrases and if you get it wrong then she will ask new question. In Colours mode you may be asked such questions as ‘Can you find a coin with seven purple flowers on it?’and you will need to find that coin to answer the question and just as in the Numbers mode, the left hand button will change the question.
The right hand button will play one of 3 songs which your child will have heard from the Peppa Pig television series, the slider button on her side changes the mode from Numbers to Colours and there is a volume control on the back, which is always a favourite feature with parents!
We really love the educational value of this toy and especially so as children won’t realise how much they are learning while they are having fun! Count with Peppa is a great size for small hands and the buttons are kept simple so children are able to work out what to do, the coins are easy to push through the slot and the purse has a finger sized hole so it can be pulled open effortlessly. The questions Peppa asks help to strengthen your child’s listening skills as well as helping them learn to follow sequential steps. Count with Peppa takes 2 AAA batteries, it is available from Argos and retails at £19.99 (at time of writing). You can find it here.
