It’s great to encourage children into the kitchen and they nearly always really enjoy cooking – and eating the results. It can be tricky to make sure what they are cooking is healthy and well-balanced, especially when they are sweet treats, but Little Cooks have got this sussed. Each month they send your little cook a new snack recipe and all the dry organic ingredients to make it. There is no refined sugar, no processed ingredients, just delicious healthy baking with your little ones. We received the Halloween box and made Spooky Witches’ Fingers, which were packed with healthy ingredients – ground almonds, cashew nuts, buckwheat groats, chia seeds and flax seeds.
I must confess that I wondered whether such healthy options would produce results the children would enjoy, but they loved them – and I was impressed too. It’s brilliant to have a sweet option that is so healthy. The instructions were easy to follow and our 7 year old had no problem reading them and helping his younger sister. They were fun to make too, especially rolling out the fingers and attaching the almond ‘fingernails’. Having the dry ingredients pre-weighed is useful, but it is also good that children need to weigh out the store cupboard ingredients – we needed to add butter and honey. Your box will arrive around 28th of each month and include:
- An easy to follow snack recipe, created by a registered nutritionist
- All the dry organic ingredients you need to make it, perfectly measured out
- An additional family meal recipe that your kids will love to cook and eat – ours was a recipe for sweet potato crust quiche
- A little bit of extra themed fun to help keep little cooks entertained! A spooky window sticker.
