REVIEW: Everfresh Cakes

Who are Everfresh?

They produce foods ‘that are made from sprouted grains and it is the sprouting process that enhances the goodness of the grain and makes the bread (and other products) more easily digestible. Baked with no preservatives, no dairy, no eggs, no added sweeteners or refined sugars, our products are ideal for those who are wheat intolerant, vegetarian, vegan or just looking for a really simple and pure way of eating. Organic food production is very important to us and so is sourcing the best quality ingredients and then keeping the processing to a minimum. We are committed to protecting the environment for future generations and as a result we will not consider making products that are not part of a sustainable or organic food chain.’

We were kindly sent a variety of different flavours from their cakes range – Fruit, Chocolate, Banana & Walnut, Carrot & Raisin, Date & Pecan and Wheat-Free Rye Fruit, they are all organic and suitable for vegans and vegetarians. I am often on the lookout for healthier foods and most sweet foods are often not very good for you due to high sugar content and other additives; Everfresh cakes have none of these nasties and the natural sugars come from the sprouting grains that are used to make them so you can enjoy them without feeling guilty. The range of different flavours is great, we found that each of us preferred different ones and I particularly enjoyed the carrot and raisin one. It is also handy to keep an extra one at home as they are perfect for offering guests who may have dietary requirements as they are suitable for both vegan and vegetarian diets. Each cake weighs 350g and will easily provide several portions as the cakes are denser than a standard cake so you don’t need as much to fill you up!

Everfresh Cakes are available from their website and start at £3.00 for a single cake and can also be purchased in half or whole cases. While you’re there, take a look at the other cakes and sprouted grain breads they have available.
